Irish Broadband Internet Services Ltd (Irish Broadband), a subsidiary of NTR plc has created this Privacy Statement in order to assure our customers of our reliability and our continued commitment to your confidentiality.

The following information relates to how we gather and use information from our website. In order for you to completely understand your rights, we urge all our customers to read this statement before giving any personal information or continuing to navigate through the site. Any information which is provided by you to Irish Broadband via this website or otherwise will be treated in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003 and/or such amending or replacement legislation as may be adopted in Ireland from time to time.

Irish Broadband reserves the right in its sole discretion to amend this Privacy Statement at any time and you should regularly check this Privacy Statement for such amendments.

The use of personal information

If you are under the age of 18, you may only use this website in conjunction with and under the supervision of your parents or guardian and we ask that persons under this age do not submit any Personal Data to us. Therefore we encourage all parents or guardians to instruct their children in the safe and responsible disclosure of their Personal Data.

This Privacy statement is concerned with the use of your Personal Information. When you access our site there may be certain sections you subscribe to by giving us personal data such as when you ask for further information to be sent to you, for billing of products and services provided at your request, or where marketing purposes you may fill in areas which may be of interest to you or for further communications.

We may use your information to send you special offers and news about Irish Broadband. We may contact you by mail, email, telephone, mobile phone or Fax.

Please note there may be occasions where it is necessary for us to contact you, for administrative or operational reasons relating to our services. Your information may also be used to verify your identity and to protect against fraud.

By submitting an order for broadband internet services you consent to the processing of any personal information, such as your name, title, address, telephone number, contact details and other personal details ("Personal Data"); and you acknowledge that the processing of your Personal Data is necessary for the performance of the Agreement (as defined in the terms and conditions).

We do not collect or keep your personal data unless it is necessary for the above purposes (s) or required by law, nor do we keep your personal data for longer than is necessary. Where a user/ subscriber voluntarily provides personal information, i.e. through an enquiry or service application form and/or career application, the data will strictly be used in line with its specific purpose or for internal usage or analysis.

IP Addresses

When connected to the Internet your computer has a unique number known as an IP address. As you visit the Irish Broadband webpage; our servers log the IP address of your computer. We may use your IP address for the generation of anonymous usage statistics and for the monitoring and detection of any improper or unauthorised access to the systems of Irish Broadband. Your IP address may also be used for identification purposes against fraud or misuse of the website.

Disclosure of information

The information provided by you on our website may be given onto third party individuals for marketing, telesales or posting agency services for the purposes of carrying out work on behalf of Irish Broadband only.

Right of access to your Irish Broadband information

When you are on the Irish Broadband website you have direct control as to what personal information you put in on your profile. At any time you wish to change your data you have the right to do so under Section 4 of the Acts. You must request this by email or letter to either of the persons below. The changes will be made within 40 calendar days of receipt of such a request.

Use of "Cookies"

Irish Broadband uses cookies to track usage by a user of the Irish Broadband web site and for authentication purposes for certain services on our web site. The cookies used by Irish Broadband do not store personal information of any kind. Irish Broadband does not scan for the presence of any other cookies on a user's computer and in no way interfere with or use any cookies other than those created by Irish Broadband. By accessing our website you agree to this use of cookies.

Security

The site has used a number of security measures to protect the misuse, or alteration of any of your information under our control. We are serious about guarding your personal data and the details of your transactions you make. We have installed a number of measures including firewalls and monitoring programmes.

You should also be aware that where you link to another website from the Irish Broadband website, that Irish Broadband has no control over that other website. Accordingly, Irish Broadband cannot guarantee that the controller of that website will respect your privacy in the same manner as Irish Broadband.

How does Irish Broadband protect your data?

When you register details with us, make an order or access account details, we use a secure server. Any data you give us is encrypted using a 'Secure Socket Layer' (SSL) session. SSL is an industry standard and is one of the best ways to ensure Internet messages are not intercepted. You should be aware, however, that older browsers cannot use SSL. To be sure, you will need Netscape version 4.05 or Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers, version 4 or above.

We advise the following to protect your privacy and to protect against fraud:

• Choose a password you can remember but others will not guess, change it regularly, and if you do write it down, keep it somewhere safe and secure.
• When you have finished your session on Irish Broadband.ie, make sure that you prevent your details being seen by anyone that you do not wish to see them.
